For years I have wanted to introduce my family to home canning, especially after watching my boys gobble down jars of home canned peaches from a local market.
I grew up surrounded by farms and the mouth-watering fresh produce that was grown each year. I have fond memories of the canned peaches that my mom would often put up...there's nothing like the taste of fresh peaches in the midst of a long, cold winter.
So, yesterday Gramma taught us a bit about canning. Soon we'll be able to enjoy the sweet taste of summer long after the season has ended.
mmm..mmm..mmm!! yummy!

I have always wanted to try canning, but since my own mom never did it, I don't have a clue how! I keep having visions of stuff exploding all over the ceiling.(And it's hard enough for me to keep up with a clean and orderly home -- snort! -- without worrying about that!) :D
As I'm sure I've said before, I am especially impressed with your photography. Both the one of the fresh peaches and the one of the canned ones lined up on the counter really stand out as particularly well-composed, at least to this amateur eye! :)
There's always something beautiful and peaceful in the little picture stories you tell. I know anytime I click over here I'll find a gem. Today was no exception!
Warmly,
Eileen

Canning is such HOT work, isn't it? Those peaches will taste just like sunshine when the first snow flies.
