On Mother’s Day, two years ago, the kids decided to partner together and buy me a mother’s ring. The first stone on the ring would be Jacob’s birthstone, a beautiful topaz.
Sharing our idea with the jeweler in designing the ring, we were told that I had too many children for all the birthstones to fit properly. Immediately the quote of Mother Teresa came to mind, “How can there be too many children? That’s like saying there are too many flowers.”
No, it’s not so. I don’t have too many children.
We put our heads together and decided that a mother’s necklace would work just as well…even better! Not having a lot of money, the kids decided to add birthstones as they were able allowing me to wear the necklace in the meanwhile.
What started as a single stone in honor of our little Jacob has now grown to a beautiful collection of all of the birthdays celebrated with our children. We need now only add one more stone, another topaz in honor of our little one lost to miscarriage last November.
I am so blessed by my children. And again Mother’s Day has brought me such joy!
Absolutely wonderful!
I have to say I love your kids just for thinking of such a gift to honor their dear mother!
